
MBA Remote Notary Webinar

Last summer the Mississippi Legislature enacted HB 1156 which adopts several key provisions of the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts and authorizes electronic notarial acts in the State. The Secretary of State was charged with promulgating rules to implement the provisions of the Bill by July 1, 2021. This presentation will cover what banks can expect when HB 1156 goes into effect.
Meet the Presenters:
Heather Smith, Butler Snow
Heather is a member of Butler Snow’s Government and Regulatory Group. She concentrates her practice on public utilities and administrative law. She works primarily with local utility authorities, school boards and municipal governments on a multitude of issues. Her secondary practice is commercial real estate where she conducts multi-million dollar closings.
Heather obtained her J.D. from Loyola University and is admitted to the Mississippi Bar. She was selected as a top ten finalist in 2019 for the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 50 Under 40. Heather is also a graduate of the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce's Leadership 2018 and the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Hancock County 2013.
Allyson Winter, Hancock Whitney Bank
Allyson Winter began her career as a Senior Attorney for the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency focusing her practice on Hurricane Katrina recovery programs. In 2013, she made a career pivot, joining the Legal Department at Trustmark National Bank in Jackson, Mississippi as in-house counsel. She specialized in corporate governance, retail banking operations and transactions.
She joined Hancock Whitney Bank in July 2019 as Vice President and Corporate Counsel, relocating her family to the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Allyson is a graduate of Austin Peay State University, located in Tennessee, and earned her Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law. Allyson is an active member of the Mississippi Bar and recently served as the Chair of the Evelyn Gandy Lecture Series, hosted by the Women in the Profession Committee. She also currently serves as Secretary of the Mississippi Corporate Counsel Association and is a member of an Executive Advisory Council supporting an international securities transfer agent where she is helping to shape industry standards for shareholder outreach and education.
