Last week, Governor Reeves signed HB 940 into law which allows banks to protect vulnerable customers from elder financial abuse. To help bankers understand the authority given to financial institutions under this law, the MBA will be hosting a webinar with Attorneys Cliff Harrison of Butler Snow and Allyson Winter of Hancock Whitney Bank.
Bankers who attend this webinar will learn about key issues including spotting potential elder financial abuse, the procedure for placing a temporary hold on suspicious transactions, and the expanded ability to contact non-account holders. The speakers will also be answering any questions from attendees on elder financial abuse, its impact on bankers, and complying with this new law.
